Bose Triport Headphones offer uber quality sound with a comfortable band, but only middling noise reduction for travelers.
The Bose Triport Headphones are mainly marketed for their sound quality. The Bose Triport offers an adjustable headband, replaceable earcup cushions and adapters to fit CD/DVD/MP3 players, laptops, TVs and home stereos. The headband sits on top of the head. The headphones do a decent job of sound muffling but these headphones are not marketed as noise cancellation devices. The ear cups fit securely enough to drown out plenty of ambient noise if one isn't too picky.
They arrive for travel in a small drawstring bag, yet do not fold up compactly. For ultra light travelers needing to save space in airplane carry-on bags, headphones that fold are more advantageous.
For business travelers seeking hours-long comfort, ultimate audio quality and some noise cancellation at a mid-to-high range price, the Bose is a good choice. If noise cancellation and compactness matter most, another headphone would better suit.
An interview with a Business Travel reader (who asked not to be named for this article), reviewing the Bose Triport Headphones:
I love the headphones. I'm not what I would consider an audiophile because I typically don't get top of the line audio equipment but in this case I'm glad I did.
Sound quality is off the charts better than your average headphones. And while they are not noise canceling headphones the do provide a pretty good barrier to external sounds because of the fit.
The band that goes over the head is rounded which becomes uncomfortable after a while. The good thing about it is that it contacts the head in a narrow band and so it's easy to tilt the headphones forward or backward so that they rest on a different part of the head. If the band were flat it would contact a larger part of the top of the head and so it would be hard to reposition it.
For the most part. I wear them for hours on end at work. I usually take them off for a few minutes here and there, otherwise I have them on.
Well, they cost a lot but then I'm glad I got them. As long as I don't lose them somewhere then I think the price is right - around $130 I think.
Absolutely, though I could never sleep with them on. These are great for working at home too. When I wear them, they are so big and obvious; the rest of the family knows I am working. Do Not Disturb. You can't buy that kind of privacy.
