Free WIFI at Office Depot
Access the Internet while traveling and shopping
You can use supply store Office Depot as a WIFI depot for those traveling days and sleepless nights you MUST check email from the road.
According to the free handout from the entrance area of the Bellevue, WA store location, you can use Office Depot's free WIFI hotspot by following these steps:
- Click on Control Panel
- Click on Network and Internet
- Click on Connect to Network
- Click on Set up a Connection or Network
- Click on Manually Connect to a Wireless Network
- Type the network name: odwifi
- Click on Next
- Click on Connect to Network
- The connection status should be displayed, hopefully as Connected
This handout is specifically for the new Vista program, but the procedure should be similar if not the same for other Microsoft platforms. This is a little more complicated for Internet access than most wardriving situations where you just click to find open connections, but at least you can be assured this is a legitimate, free access point and not a spy-sucker out to harvest your email privates and banking passwords.
Office Depot is not open 24 hours, but you can certainly drive up front and park during closing time to access the Internet for free on late nights when HAVE to get online and are out of other reasonably safe and easy WIFI ideas.
