We researched a guidebook traveling for months with our daughter when she was one. It is possible, but not easy. Basically, only one of us could really work at a time while the other handled the kid. At her age now of 3, I'm sure it would be really challenging.

On the upside, she got to see many things most adults never see, and it was an amazing experience for us all... well worth any sacrifices.

I still remember the trips I took with my dad on business with much fondness, even the ones where I had to stay alone in the hotel while he worked! Heehh. I just thought it was so cool to be traveling with him, and would beg to go every time.

I don't mind the dogs on biz trips but I can't really get stuff done when other people are around, much less kids who like to talk and do stuff and want attention. I tend to disappear into books and my computer (even around the pool; it feels so luxurious) on trips and appreciate it best when other people occupy themselves as well. So I guess I would travel best with a kid/teen who could enjoy their own company mostly.

I am so used to working with distractions that it's almost weird to have peace and silence... but you raise a good point. For people who need quiet to focus on work, bringing kids along is probably not a good idea. And even if you are a workaholic, only bring them if you can break loose long enough to focus JUST on the child for at least a brief time (even if it's just room service breakfast and a chat).

Not sure if i was clear. I don't mind noise around me - prefer it, since I don't have to feel lonely - but I don't like to have to interact. If other people can interact and I can just "be there", and don't ask me anything, it's better for me.
