Enjoyed reading what the favorite hotel freebies are. I don't care for the newspaper and coffee but breakfast, fitness room and WIFI is very important to me.

I don't usually take my laptop with me on vacations, and I'm not a business traveler, so I'm "eh" about the Wi-fi. But good, fresh coffee???? A MUST. happy And wonderful little toiletries make me disproportionately happy, too. I gues that's the difference between a leisure traveler and a busines traveler.

I agree on all points. I get annoyed if I don't get many of those (especially the paper, round-the-clock coffee including decaf, and wi-fi). One thing I noticed at a Hampton Inn that was great was a grab-and-go breakfast sack... genius for business travelers! I was staying there for an interview, and loved that I could rush out and still have something to nibble on.

I would also add having fridges and micros in-room. When I'm traveling on business, I often don't even have time for a dinner out. Just being able to nuke something in the room late at night is wonderful!

Oh, I should also add... for some people, these aren't fluff items. As a newspaper reporter, I really have to get the paper. (I love the hotels that let you specify whether you want a national or local newspaper, which I've found a lot in Canada). I also simply have to have decent wi-fi. Any business hotel should just offer these, in my opinion.

I love discussions like this...we really all have our baselines. I think my next poll will cover this one. What else do people think are bottom line basics for hotel room must-haves for business travel?

Wi-Fi is a must for a hotel to provide! I travel with my laptop with a wireless built in network. I ensure that the hotel connection is clear with my Wi-Fire. The hotels that do have internet access do not necessarily provide the signal strength or speed necessary for me to complete my work. I got my Wi-Fire at hfield.com and now my hotel experiences and travelings in general are much more enjoyable.
