I use a CD player with headphones for working out. How do MP3 players compare?

Hi Joy and thanks for your question. There's nothing wrong with using a CD player for your workouts, especially if it works well for you. Obviously, you have a player that doesn't skip when you move - an important tip for people looking to purchase a player for exercise! :-)

Here's why an MP3 player is better, though - yeah, it won't skip at all (it's completely digital), but more over, you don't ever have to worry about carrying disks around (which take up space, get scratched, dusty, lost and broken, plus you have to switch them over manually). My player is a tiny affair I can strap on my arm and there's nothing to futz with - pressing one button will give me hours of play, from the play list of my choice, or from a random complilation of dozens (even hundreds) of albums.

My wife tosses hers in her purse and mine has a pocket in my laptop's backpack. These things are so small it's hard to believe.

And the sound quality is suberb. Of course, a lot of that depends on your headphones.

I hope I answered your question?

Yes, thanks, that's what I needed to know. The CD player works well for me but I can see that the MP3 player gives a larger variety of music with less hassle. Whenever I'm looking to replace the CD player, maybe I'll look at MP3 players.

Hi Joy. I am usually a late adopter with new technology, and I did move over to MP3s a few years after my more tech-minded friends did. But they are SOOOO much easier than dealing with CDs. I never realized how much space discs take up, even in those cases that consolidate them up.

I have even converted ALL my CDs over to computer files and then sold them (the CDs) on eBay. So we are now a CD-free house. happy

Well I'm usually a VERY late adopter of technology! If my kids don't lead the way I don't usually get it. LOL But I do enjoy my music while I'm exercising and the MP3 player sounds good. If you had as many CDs as we have,I bet you made a small fortune selling them on eBay!

Yeah, actually made a couple hundred so it was worth the effort. And I still have all the music and I don't have to worry about the disc getting those little scratches, or about making sure discs get put back in the correct case, etc.
